Dr Abdul Samad Mahomed obtained his PhD degree in Chemistry (Catalysis) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal followed by working at Sasol Technology R&D, the research arm of Sasol Ltd, as well as at Sasol Solvents. His research interests included materials synthesis and analysis, for applications in such areas as catalysts and adsorbents. His areas of expertise include catalysis in paraffin oxidation, hydrogenation, selective oxidation of CO, and green applications such as CO2 mitigation to methanol and olefins, and glycerol transformations.
